Introduction: Grand Summit · Hui Art Space is honored to exhibit “IT WORLD” CHENXI Individual Exhibition, which is the artist's first solo exhibition in Hui Art Space. The exhibition presents a new series of paintings recently created by the artist.
After a brief and devoting exploration, the artist is eager to break through the limitations of painting. Occasionally, she finds that all the static things around her were suddenly given magical charm, as if there were implied humanity. Her eyes linger in her own pets and a number of woodcut dolls collected over the years. She has seen a lot of interesting and meaningful intentions and metaphors beyond the objects. Then she extracts the creative elements and looks for all the potential mysterious clues: dolls and objects— that are full of smell of human beings and become evidence of human behaviors by people’s using, playing and even destructing, damaging out of personal choice. For the artist, this time’s different inspiration is not about the earth-shattering content, neither a new invention on the media texture. It is the return of the hand feeling, or more about the search for a way of expression that is extremely free and meaningful, that is, the the freedom of method is in accordance with the thought. Is it possible to break the ancient definitions of painting styles and the habitual understanding of paintings? You can walk through the borderless world, and blend individuals’ different methods of experience in the new paintings to carry new intentions and endow the paintings with new freedom and energy. Trying to answer these self-set questions is the part of the value of the new series that is different from previous paintings.
