“SYMBOL·ELEMENT ANALYSIS” YANG HONGWEI Individual Exhibition is held from Nov. 7th, 2015 to Jan. 8th, 2016 in Grand Summit · Hui Art Space. It exhibits the Symbol Element Analysis series, on which he has spent 3 years. The overall idea of the creation derives from the movable type printing in Chinese traditional culture. Combined with the core concept of the contemporary digital matrix, it adopts the traditional Western wood engraving print technology. The meaning of images and texts was re-expressed in the form of prints and devices. Full of charm and thickness, the creation features the historic evolution of art through the “dialogue” between art and pixel, expressing the contemporary nature of publishing art from an unprecedented perspective.
Introduction: It’s a society of “screen” today, where various information is transferred into pixel by computers for further analyzation. Paintings being transferred from images into digital via “scanning”, exactly shows the process of transferring images into pixels.
